| Text | The structure of these lists changed over time. Initially, names were organized under their respective military units, following an official ranking system. On December 7, 1916, this format was replaced with an alphabetical listing to facilitate searches and obscure troop affiliations. By August 25, 1917, the level of detail was reduced, with records containing only the soldier’s name, rank, birthday (excluding the year), and place of birth.In late 1918, the lists returned to a unit-based organization, restoring full birth dates. The index for this collection was created by MyHeritage from scanned images of the original documents, making these historical records more accessible for genealogical and historical research. | |
