Tammen Washington Twp-Tammen, Jeffrey W., 54, of Township Of Washington, NJ, passed away on Monday, December 21st, 2020. Jeffrey is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years Sharon; his sons Kyle Jeffrey and Jack Barend; his siblings Barbara Leskanic and her husband Bruce, Rear Admiral John Tammen Jr. and his wife Linda, and Jim Tammen and his wife Susan; his siblings in-law Dan Kiefte and his wife Nicole and Janet Sweetman; his in-laws who thought of him as their own son, Barry & Suzanne Kiefte and was a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews, Tyler, Corey, Erin, Kelly, James'JT', Justin, Andrew, Henry, Shannon, Mia, Alexis and Emily. He is predeceased by his parents John Tammen and Doris (nee Hilla) and his sister in-law Lauren Smernoff. Jeff was a 1984 graduate of Westwood High School. He was a plumber for Mazzone Plumbing & Heating of Saddle Brook, NJ for 25 years. Jeff loved helping people, he especially loved being a volunteer firefighter. He was a member of the Township of Washington Fire Department & Westwood Fire Department. He served as Chief for Washington Township from 2000-2001, following in the footsteps of his Dad John "Jack" Tammen and brother Jim Tammen. Jeff grew up and raised his family in Township Of Washington, NJ where his sons attended the same schools as he did when he was a kid. Some of their teachers remembered Jeff as a student. Some of Jeff's fondest memories as a kid were working at Pine Lake with his siblings and hanging out at his dad's store, Tammen's Hardware. He took pride in everything he did. He loved taking care of his lawn and in the past few years when he couldn't do it any longer, he loved watching videos about lawn maintenance, getting ideas and tips to coach his wife Sharon on proper lawn maintenance. Yet his proudest accomplishment wasn't his job or volunteering or even being fire Chief, it was being a dad. The family will receive guests at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd., Westwood, NJ on Saturday, January 16th from 2-5PM with a Celebration of his life, faith and fireman's service commencing at 5PM.
